Váci 1 wins two FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards

Horizon Development’s unique heritage restoration and retail development project received international acclaim. Winners were announced last Friday in Andorra la Vella at the 68th World Congress of FIABCI, The International Real Estate Federation. The world’s best real estate development projects were awarded in 13 categories at the celebratory event held in the ballroom of Andorra Park Hotel, attracting hundreds of guests. The prestigious award of the Paris-based international organization is considered the Oscars of the property industry.

Reflecting on the recognition of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Váci 1 building – redeveloped from private equity – Attila Kovács managing partner emphasized: „it is a tremendous honor for our company to have both our value preservation and commercial value creation potential recognized at such high level by the professional jury consisting of 63 experts from 32 countries. Horizon Development is dedicated to reconnecting the heritage buildings of downtown Budapest into the urban fabric of the city. We are extremely pleased that our project is the first Hungarian development ever to receive awards in multiple categories, having competed against an international pool of high caliber projects.”

Regarding the future plans of the company, the architect and owner said: “our ongoing developments cover the entire spectrum of the real estate industry, and every one of them is expecting high level environmental certifications. To replace the old 1970s structure currently under demolition (office building and parking garage), we are planning to build a modern, LEED Platinum certified multifunctional property at Szervita Square, housing office, retail and luxury residential functions on 14,900 sqm. Our Promenade Gardens development on Váci Road (combining energy efficiency and contemporary design) is the most technically advanced office building on the office corridor, with a LEED Gold and BREEAM Very Good accreditation. After the – primarily commercial – development focus of Horizon Development so far, it is a refreshing change for us to launch a purely residential project, Buda Gardens. In 2019 we will hand over 350 top-quality apartments by Lake Feneketlen, on a total area of 34,000 sqm. Our aim for the next years is to deliver projects that qualify to compete again at the upcoming FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards.”
